Draft environmental assessment now available for public comment

The City of Morgantown, in association with the Federal Aviation Administration, is seeking public comment on a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) to evaluate future development proposed at the Morgantown Municipal Airport. The City has prepared this Draft EA for a proposed 1,001-foot extension to Runway 18-36.

The EA is a requirement of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA). The purpose of the EA is to fully investigate any social, economic, and environmental impacts of the proposed runway extension. In order to receive federal Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grant funds, this needs full concurrence from the FAA before moving forward with construction project.

The Draft EA document has been made available for public review. Copies of the Draft EA may be reviewed at the following locations and times from May 22, 2019 through July 7, 2019.
